Heavenly Father, personally, I am extremely humbled and grateful that You do not leave us the way we are, but continually lead us into all truth, that Your Word is truth, that You desire truth in the inner parts of who we are, that we may be pure vessels for Your glory, in Jesus name (John 16:13, John 17:17 Ps 51:6, 2 Cor 7:1) Abba Father, we desire healing in the Body of Christ, so we welcome the Great Physician, Jesus, to have His way, by the Holy Spirit’s ministry, in revealing that which You desire us to see and know, and all that You Father are calling us to renounce as sin, and surrender to You in repentance, that we may be healed and restored, that times of refreshing may come to Your Church, in Jesus name. (James 5:16, Acts 3:19) You desire the world to see a glorious Bride..that those not yet part of the Bride would desire to become a part of a Whole and Healthy Church, in and through Jesus Christ! Make it so Lord Jesus we pray, in Your name!
Song 2:15 “ Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.”
Prior to verse 15, we read all about the sweet communion the Bride prefers with her Bridegroom above all others. She recalls herself to be, like a weary traveler, being taken by her Rescuing Bridegroom, to His Banquet hall, that He alone has refreshed her and strengthened her by the fruit of His Word, coming under her with His everlasting arms to uphold her very life!! Song 2:4-6 “ He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love. Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love. His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.”
The echoing of her heart here is vital for us to see before we can gras
p the power of God’s message today through Song 2:15. We too, join our King, our Bridegroom at His Banquet table..His Banquet table which is set with the fruits of His love. And at that table, with Him, sits His entire Bride..the Whole Body of Christ.
So, she, the Bride cries with her Bridegroom/Shepherd/Warrior King, to catch for US, The Bride..”the little foxes that ruin the vines”. She doesn’t say, “catch for me” Song 2:15 “ Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes” Don’t we just love God’s heart of community here? A cry for all! That is the heart of the Abba Father (John 3:16-17) Aren’t we utterly grateful that the heart of God is that He desires to eradicate completely anything and everything that would interrupt complete communion with Him and with one another through Jesus?
What are the “little foxes”? If we go over to Luke 13:31-32 “ At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.” He replied, “Go tell that fox, `I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’” WOW! I had never seen those words before, “Go tell that fox!” There it is Church..Herod was a murderer! If we look at what comes through the spirit of murder we will see, strife, jealousy, bitterness, envy, wrath, rage, anger, hate, and here comes Cain against Abel! Gen 4:6-8 “Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.”
Satan is the one who brings murder, Jesus is the Author of Life! God the Father, by His Holy Spirit desires to root out and reveal the little foxes that are doing BIG damage to The Bride of His Beloved Son Jesus. How many fathers out there are extremely protective of their son’s brides? Or how many husband’s out there are protective of their own brides? All this to say, The Triune God loves His Church, His Beloved Bride so extensively that He will not keep the darkness in the dark..but let His light bring all things to light!
Ezek 13:1-16 is also referenced to little foxes. As I read what the Lord spoke here, the Holy Spirit convicted me of false words I have spoken in the past or I’ve tried to declare over my life, heart, family, home, city or nation, by saying “all is well”, “nothing wrong here”, instead of Ezek 13:5, building of wall of True intercession, by seeing things for what they really are, receiving the truth, speaking the truth, renouncing and repenting according to the Truth of God, and declaring the Word of God over the lives and cities and nations! Fear can keep us not only bound, but blind as well…but “there is no fear in love for God’s perfect love casts out all fear, for fear has to do with torment” (1 John 4:18)
May we choose to walk in the freedom of Jesus Christ, and see the little foxes in our own lives, homes, relationship, churches, cities, nations, and be moved by the Holy Spirit to do all that God intends for us to do from the pure heart He Himself will grant us, for His glory in Jesus name!
Instead of scriptures below, here is a Matthew Henry Commentary on Song 2:15
For the fame of Jesus Christ; the healing of His Bride; & the healing of the Nations (Rev 22:2)
Julianna Hab 2:14
“Take us the foxes (take them for us, for it is good service both to Christ and the church), the little foxes, that creep in insensibly; for, though they are little, they do great mischief, they spoil the vines, which they must by no means be suffered to do at any time, especially now when our vines have tender grapes that must be preserved, or the vintage will fail. Believers are as vines, weak but useful plants; their fruits are as tender crops at first, which must have time to come to maturity. This charge to take the foxes is, A charge to particular believers to mortify their own corruptions, their sinful appetites and passions, which are as foxes, little foxes, that destroy their graces and comforts, quash good motions, crush good beginnings, and prevent their coming to perfection. Seize the little foxes, the first risings of sin, the littles ones of Babylon (Ps 137:9), those sins that seem little, for they often prove very dangerous. Whatever we find a hindrance to us in that which is good we must put away. . A charge to all in their places to oppose and prevent the spreading of all such opinions and practices as tend to corrupt men’s judgments, debauch their consciences, perplex their minds, and discourage their inclinations to virtue and piety. Persecutors are foxes (Luke 13:32); false prophets are foxes, Ezek 13:4. Those that sow the tares of heresy or schism, and, like Diotrephes, trouble the peace of the church and obstruct the progress of the gospel, they are the foxes, the little foxes, which must not be knocked on the head (Christ came not to destroy men’s lives), but taken, that they may be tamed, or else restrained from doing mischief. The believing profession which the church makes of her relation to Christ, and the satisfaction she take sin her interest in him and communion with him.”(from Matthew Henry’s Commentary)
